Your Beetcoin donation goes to SOIL groups (SOIL stands for Slow Opportunities for Investing Locally), part of the slow money movement. This movement was sparked by the 2009 publishing of Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms and Fertility Mattered, by Woody Tasch. See the Slow Money Principles.
Since 2010, when the first slow money investment was made, more than $75 million has flowed to over 750 small organic/regenerative farms and food enterprises via volunteer-led groups in dozens of communities around the U.S., and a few in Canada, France and Australia. Tens of thousands have attended slow money events, local and national. The SOIL model was pioneered in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley in 2014, and based on its success, SOIL Boulder was launched in 2017. Today, there are five SOIL groups, four in Colorado and one in Virginia—on the way, we hope, to many more.
